Welcome Marines,Associates,Friends and Family to the Department of Maine web site. Maine covers 33,215 Sq miles of beautiful Rockbound Coast and Forest. Maine has 16 Counties. The Coastline is 3,500 miles, the Forest 17 million acres, 6000 Lakes and ponds,5,100 Rivers and Streams.The largest city is Portland and the State capital is Augusta. Maine has a population of 1,328,361. Nickname: Pine Tree State Vacationland. Motto: Dirigo (I lead). Bird: Chickadee. Flower: White Pine Cone. Tree: White Pine. Gemstone: Tourmaline. Animal: Moose. Fish: Landlocked Salmon. Fruit: Wild Blueberry.

The Purposes of the Marine Corps League

Members of the Marine Corps League join togeather in comaraderie and fellowship for the purpose of preserving the traditins and promoting the interests of the United States Marine Corps. The Marine Corps League perpetuates the traditions and spirt of all Marines and Navy FMF Corpsmen and FMF Navy Chaplains, who proudly wear or have worn the Eagle, Globe and Anchor of the Corps. It takes great pride in crediting its founder in 1923 to Major General Commandant John A Lejeune. It takes equal pride in its Federal Charter, approved by an act of the Seventy-Fifth Congress of the United States of America and signed and approved by President Franklin D Roosevelt on August 4, 1937.
